As long as there are politicians there will always be corruption

Every US and Australian politician is corrupt beyond redemption.

The main reasons a person enters politics and seeks election is money, power, and vanity.

Politicians are inherently corrupt:

  1. They lie;
  2. They seek money from donors by offering favors to the donors;
  3. They pervert justice by vouching for miscreants who have donated or could donate money to them;
  4. They betray voters;
  5. They betray allies;
  6. They commit acts of slander under the protection of their office;
  7. They employ family and friends at lucrative salaries;
  8. They impose on others to employ their friends and family at lucrative salaries;
  9. They take money from foreign countries to influence geopolitical government decisions;
  10. They start wars without justification.

Well for once I agree with you.

The two most lucrative professions are crime and politics.

The Freemasons were invented to provide a venue for the collaboration of the perpetrators of crime and the purported agents of justice.

Nah ... i disagree with that. I think some politicians genuinely enter politics because they want to do some good. I'm not talking about the lifers who have never worked a real job.

The problem with the political system is that if you want to succeed you have to become corrupt. Party politics demands it. If you don't you won't get pre-selected or for our American friends, nominated, you won't be given a portfolio, the party apparatchik will do everything they can to get rid of you, including but not limited to leaking lies to tarnish your reputation.

After all, that's how our current PM got the job. A Lebanese guy won pre-selection in scomos seat by a landslide ... but the libs decided that they couldn't have a leb represent them so soon after the Cronulla riots so they made up some crap to tarnish his reputation, leaked it to the newspaper, stacked the branch and then called for another party pre-selection. The result was scomo. BTW ... once it was to late, the Lebanese guy was cleared of any wrongdoing and the rumours were proven false ...

Trump and his ilk are the opposite of a solution to political corruption.
If you can see your way clear to make a distinction, there is a difference between Trump the man and the reason why people voted for him.

Trump was voted into office in 2016 as a rebuke to politics as usual and its endemic corruption. The motives of the people who voted for him were good motives.

Trump had a lot of bad personal qualities. He was transparently childish in his reaction to criticism and unpresidential. And it was his personality that refused to let him accept that he had lost the election, and of course we all know how that turned out.

But I don’t really think he was corrupt in the typical ways that most politicians are corrupt.

And frankly, I don’t blame the American people for electing him. I understand what they were rebelling against.
