Thanks for that. I had a good cry. :bgrin
Makes me sad too. Original melodies and lyrics and great harmonies were Eagles hallmarks ... and now Glenn Frey is gone.

ah the memories.

There was ONE song that really stood out for me...…….NOT Desperado.. but a melancholy song I'll be buggered I can't remember now. Hotel California keeps taking up that space.. :think

Oh well, that was an era of music , like the others you have posted … Horse with No Name Sister Goldenhair… I could still remember the lyrics, or close, even after all these yrs, given half a chance. Ah but times do move on.

My (parents) had an extensive collection of LP's... and they were wide-ranging. I listened to them heaps up until I was 13. Then? my world changed. No more music.

From Frank Sinatra to Johnny Mathis , who I loved to sing along with , and big bands, Les Elgart to Billy Butterfield, from Peggy Lee to Nancy Sinatra.
From Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue to The Sound of Music.
You get the idea. My head so full of old music, modern stuff sounds alternately like thrashing cords and wailing, or moaning and complaining females that all sound the same.. GASP.. I know isn't it awful.??

I value the spacing of the sounds. The spaces in between. The pause...
Modern stuff ( gawd I'm an old lady) has so much NOISE behind the main player, I'm lucky to understand a single word. The constant bashing of my eardrums doesn't make me like lots of modern stuff.

It is very hard today, for originality to shine. Constant repeats on radio or whatever seem necessary for a money-maker. Such a sad game really. BUT NOW Covid-19 has changed a lot of perceptions.

You do know don't you that the formula for a pop song top seller has been worked out by computers, That happened about 5-6 yrs ago. Simple repetitive vocals, repetitive simple.. that's about it. See Taylor Swift for eg's, or ANY rapper :roll
Maybe that melancholy song was "I Can't Tell You Why"? The opening lyric ...

"Look at us, baby. Up all night, tearing our love apart."

You reminded me of the time I was driving home along the freeway with my son. He was born in 1985. He was in his 20s at the time, maybe around 2010 or so. Anyways, I put an Eagles cd into the player, and after a while, my son said that they don't make good music like that anymore. I've learned that there are a lot of younger people who like the music we grew up with in the 60s and 70s. I agree with you that a lot of popular modern music is crap.

R.I.P. Glenn Frey

I used to love the Eagles, when we all did. I do, as many of us do , associate their songs with memories of t he past.

Always the faves like hmmmmm.. there is one oh yeah Desperado. Classic. Tequila Sunrise et al. If we ever hear them, we remember them.
Vale Glenn Frey
I took my wife and daughter to go see them in Portland in 2014. As always, they performed their songs flawlessly, like the consummate professionals they are. Here's one more you'll remember ...
