Oh yeah.. then we have SHOUT. by Tears for Fears. I think that sits in the middle of ewtrtw and Mad World.

Sigh.

They were on tour here a couple of yrs ago(?) with 10 CC. I so wish I could have seen them. What a show would have been.

10 CC is another absolutely mag british music duo.. from back then.
They wrote the BEST SONGS.

I'm Not In Love .. ring a bell.?

Oh well , most music today bores me so much I haven't even turned on the radio for yrs, except in long power outages. :roll

I guess i'm getting older.. :bgrin

The last music CD I bought,..?? ( yeah that's what I mean) .. was umm probably hmm sheesh .. maybe Pnau? When they won the Aria.?

My favourite Tears For Fears song was always Mad World:

Although i prefer this cover of it:

That's such a great song :thumb

Yeah , thanks Mothra, both of those were well worth watching. I always loved Mad World, but I've been hell bent on EWTRTW
I know. They are like bookends.. One talks about what's happening, and the other talks about the results.

Sigh .. hadn't heard Mad World, for quite a while, and I do like very much that cover.

Always seemed so sad.

I could listen to Samuel Barber's Adagio For Strings on a long drive.

Haunting, beautiful ... lost in my thoughts.

about my question re Everybody Wants To Rule the World..??

I know it is all that, but WHAT ABOUT the lyrics.?

Simplistic, and compelling.
They even apologise for the fade-out of the end of the song and vid.

So sad they had to fade it
everybody wants to rule the world

It is a classic. The video is so chock full of visual references as well, the more I watch it, and listen to it, the more I appreciate it.
Who knew.? :wub

This is an original song that they wrote.

Thanks Seth. I'll put it on hold, for now.

Did you like Tears for Fears.? THAT song in particular.. tho they had others. But they were British, so maybe you never heard of them.

Umm oh I hope you're not suffering from the floods we are hearing about from that latest storm .

:buddy

That song was a hit in the U.S. I’ve heard it many times. Nice pleasing melody and beat makes it a toe tapper.

The flooding is in Texas. We’re fine here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s been wet lately, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Even the video works..

from the little Mexican kid in his cowboy suit and pistoleros, to the guy driving the groovy car, to the pilot of the plane, and the glider...... to the guys on bikes ripping up the dunes, to the beautiful people of colour dancing so perfectly, to the truck driver, even the puppy alerted, .. all fading into the sunset. Sigh.

:bgrin

it conjures up in me a great sadness.
I'd go so far as to say I think it represents the absolutely BEST POP pre-apocalyptic vision from the 80's. (in my limited experience)

It is fraught with ideas. It's true.
