Panthers in the western hemisphere are called jaguars and live in Central and South America. Cougars are a different species.

There are a few jaguars in Texas. They are much more rare than there used to be. Mexico still has many. Many of the jaguars in Texas have been black with black spots. Many Texas high schools have adopted the jaguar as their mascot. Some confuse them with leopards, but jaguars are shorter.

Magnificent creatures.. I mean.. if they want to kill the odd sheep or two let them go for it.
The Pumas will be gone before the sheep or cattle or goats. "cos we keep killing them. :mad

People who kill big cats because they take stock are arseholes. People who hunt them for sport are freaking selfish egotistical fucking Monsters.

No I don't think their business is more important than the balance of the natural world. It should be factored in to any business idea in areas where top predators live.
WHEREEVER THAT IS.

Otherwise it is the same as ever.. A blanket statement, that (my) rights as a human overrides all others.

Like the dingo proof fence: where the dingoes are fenced out sheep can be run. Like most dogs, a kill excites a dingo pack and they end up on a killing spree just because sheep are so defenceless and run away.

On the other side only cattle are run, too big for a killing spree.

Yes. Sorry for the families loss.

Umm .. he was an older man , who lost concentration when this bird swooped on him, and he ran his bike into a post.

A most unfortunate accident. Pity he didn't just ignore it, and peddle out of range, but I wasn't there.
I think these things happen , and are an example of the pattern of life and death.
He was afraid of this bird, and he killed himself as a result.

A lesson to us all.

Horses remain the animal most likely to cause death in Australia, in spite of this country having some of the most dangerous critters in the world.

So, indeed, we humans relish excitement and danger. I loved riding horses when I was younger. I fell off heaps, but I guess bounced pretty well. And yet people are being injured almost weekly. Some young folk are quadriplegics, due to accidents or falls from horses.

So I guess that is Magpies = 1.
