He would prefer Offred’s life to be “bearable.” Something Aunt Lydia is maybe not so concerned with?
I reckon that Aunt Lydia is more concerned with Offred's well-being than the Commander.

Twisted as it may seem.

“Not the damaged ones!”

“Aunt Lydia” does try to protest the exclusion of the ones maimed as punishment, I suppose. Love the “girls?” Maybe if she called them women.

The removal of eye, hand, beatings on (Offred’s feet in the film, Moira’s in the book) and the female cutting—sound awfully like strict Muslim sort of punishments. Then again, they were likely stolen from the Bible in the first place.

Girl in a box, says Offred, sitting in the wardrobe in the room where she sleeps and spends a lot of time, box within a box. Strong stuff.

A massive hat tip to Joseph Fiennes. He says he is revolted by the role he plays. I think it takes a person of either considerable strength or utter sociopathy to play that part without and do it justice.

From reading what he has to say about it, he is the former.

More

A WA @LiberalAus Senate candidate will represent “the voice of God” and “the desires of the church” at “the highest levels of government” if she is elected, her husband and co-founder of a northern suburbs New Testament church has promised.
We know what that leads to given half a chance.

Did you see where Baarnaby Joyce said he was "entitled" to fight against protest free spaces outside abortion clinics?

No.

I can't watch that man anymore.

If he comes on TV, or the radio, I switch it off.

I'm not surprised he thinks he's entitled, though.

Stupid Beetrooter.

The word entitled is just perfect, isn't it?

Just says it all.
