Can I humbly request of you Agnes, that you start a Thread titled "Me and Mothra," so your problem with her is focussed there, and not anywhere else?

Agnes i'm not interested in engaging you in any kind of drama at all. Perhaps it's time to drop the hostility and just blend in? It seems to be what you want to do.

This is a peaceful little forum. I don't think anyone wants it to turn into another Ozpol.

It is a bad situation—a theocracy run by and for men. The series portrays that really well.

“We made a mistake teaching them to read. We won’t make that mistake again!” Pretty chilling.

And trends in the US—the closure of abortion clinics that also means other aspects of sexual health—Pap smears etc—no longer get done in a lot of cases. The Repugs disenfranchising women especially black and hispanic, Voter ID laws and blatant jerrymandering.

I liken it to what life must be like being a woman existing in Saudi Arabia.

It's funny that a real country in 2019 can be compared to a fictional despotic regime and all we can say is, we'll it's not quite as bad as Gilead.
There should be NO congratulating anything that happens in Saudi Arabia, as most of the changes are just distractions.

Look what happened to the leading campaigners for the right of women to drive.
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/these-saudi ... -ban-ended
Don't forget, a womans right to drive there depends entirely on her male guardian granting permission.

Their guardianship laws are as strong as ever, and now there's an app men can use to to inform immigration to put them on a no-fly list. :mad :mad :mad

There are definite parallels. In more than a couple of countries around the world.

Yet i think it unwise of us to reject all comparison in our own and comparable societies, however abstract they may be.

And certainly with the religious right gaining ground in the US, certain aspects of THMT threaten ominously.

I believe it is the intent of the author not to point the finger in judgement but reflect holisticcally. As with all authors of dystonian futures.

Parallels:
A federal judge in Washington state on Thursday blocked a Trump administration cutoff of U.S. subsidies for poor women obtaining birth control from Planned Parenthood and other clinics that offer abortion services or information to patients, according to the state attorney general.

The preliminary injunction bars enforcement nationwide of a policy due to go into effect on May 3 over the vehement objections of abortion supporters, who have decried it as a “gag rule” that would prevent doctors from doing their jobs.

“Today’s ruling ensures that clinics across the nation can remain open and continue to provide quality, unbiased healthcare to women,” Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a statement announcing the decision.

Parallels:
The anti-choice movement has taken a sadistic turn in Georgia, where a new abortion ban, called HB 481, has just been signed by Governor Brian Kemp. Signed into law this Tuesday and due to take effect in 2020, the bill effectively bans abortion outright, declares foetuses to be persons with full legal rights and protections, and imposes prison sentences for women found guilty of aborting or attempting to abort their pregnancies.

Nice tweet in reply:
If a fetus is a person at 6 weeks pregnant, is that when the child support starts? Is that also when you can’t deport the mother because she’s carrying a US citizen? Can I insure a 6 week fetus and collect if I miscarry? Just figuring if we’re going here we should go all in.

These 25 men, who will never be pregnant, just legislated more rights to rapists than to women, girls & victims of rape/incest,” Nahanni Fontaine, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in Canada, tweeted Wednesday alongside an image of the state senators.

The Human Life Protection Act, passed Tuesday night, is an extreme anti-abortion measure that bans the procedure in all cases, including rape and incest. The only exception to the legislation is if the life of a pregnant woman is at risk.

Fucking female governor signed the repugnant bill. This is to overturn Roe v Wade and strip rights from women in the whole fucking country, thanks to the Repugs not letting Obama appoint his SCOTUS nominee.
