While there are experts there not every poster there is an expert.

They can give you a lot of help—distance (length of copper from node to your phone point) is one. You could also ask for a good RSP: the rule of thumb is, stay away from RSPs offering unlimited plans. There will be people there from your neck of the woods Aussie.

Find the NBN thread for your exchange, have a read and maybe set up an account and ask a question or two.

The gain comes after you are on FTTN Aussie. ADSL is much more resilient if theoretically slower than FTTH (aka VDSL2, Very high bitrate DSL.)

Distance from the node is 'muy importante'. Do not sign up to NBN if you are further than 800 metres from the nearest NBN node.

Since I forced Telstra and NBN to acknowledge this, my service, with a free $30 per month boost... has been adequate. SLOW, but adequate for my minimal needs.
I am told NBN will continue to improve.... as more people in the area are wired up. Hmm. I will wait and see. :up

As it is..

Yeah, but the copper may not run the way you think: the closest node to you as the crow flies is not necessarily the node that serves your premises.

99% of the people there are genuine with only 2-3 Liberal trolls.

Not every one there is an expert tho. But 99% will try and help.

Yeah like the user Kingforce who has been absent from the thread 'NBN policy and related issues' who turned up today in an attempt to muddy the waters due to the upcoming 4Corners story

Reality is no-one but you can fix your problem.... by putting in the hard yards. If there is a mob or two mobilising to take on NBN Co. I wish them GOOD LUCK. !!.

If you think someone other than your provider, or NBN CO. themselves, can do something other for you than a class action, think again.

Yeah, not even the Telecoms Ombudsman can do much, such tiny fines the companies just pay it.

I chose to go wireless, my copper being so crap. The area I am now had all the pits etc marked out in yellow paint, ready to roll out FTTH but the bloody Libs stalled the roll out and now there is a stupid green cabinet on the footpath around the corner :sad

Aussie I had a browse of the internet forum from what I see I think the best provider is a mob called Aussie Broadband
They purchased the most CVC compared to others and offer flexible plans.
I have an account with Telstra when the time comes to join the NBN it will be very doubtful I will stick with them.

Yes, I have already decided I am gone from Telstra etc. And yes.....I have seen that Aussie Broadband mob and they are very inviting.
