I thought abbott made quite a dignified concession speech. First time I have praised the simian.

We won’t really know the result until the end of counting for the night.

I am not downhearted at al:

• seat count shows a Labor minority government

• the large number of prepolls will change some of the figures. Flip 2-3 seats and it looks much different.

I admire your optimism.

If the trend continues in the pre-poll and postals…… LNP wins.

On the AEC site, if you watch the ‘actual TCP’ count instead of the projected count, it’s been gradually improving for Labor as the later/larger booths come in.

Currently they lead 50.4% to 49.6% nationally with about 4.2 million votes counted (with a 0.74% swing to them since 2016, which the AEC misreports as -0.74%). They were on something like 50.1% when it was closer to 2.8 million votes counted.

If the trend continues, they might actually end up somewhere around the predicted 51.5%. Before applying prepolls and postals. Which will do who the hell knows what.
