God I hate those people! Another little trick of theirs that is perfectly legal is having their spouses hired by major corporations as board members or consultants for gigantic salaries, and they don't have to know a damn thing about the business.

John, I believe he would be talking about Congress.....Both Sides of Congress......where they get their spouses hired on so they can profit from their inside information, & at the same time keep a low profile.....This is old news......Congressmen/women & Senators have been doing this for years.......none of them can show how they make tens of millions, on their salaries alone.

This particular 'news' is actually many years 'old', & at the time when PigLowsey's stock market millions were made, it was all perfectly legal.......making millions in the market on info privy to a select few in Congress, while the Investing Public was totally in the dark regarding future contracts & legislation.....a distinct.....& some say unfair/should be illegal......advantage..

Sounds like the Trump kids. But they got positions in the government too.

I see an Article V convention coming soon. The 1st order of business should be Congressional term limits. The public on both sides of the aisle overwhelmingly support this. The left have used nullification effectively and now I see the right getting ready to do the same thing to the Narcoleptic in Chief and his minions in Congress.

welcome back texan.

All I can see is elected officials profiteering because they can....... It should be wiped out. same shit happens here.

Its far more offensive and insidious than spot fixing in sports betting. throwing a match (if caught) they end them.

How can this be allowed for elected officials?....... oh thats right....... they write the laws.

carry on

Two year terms for House of Reps?
I have long been a proponent of term limits for members of Congress. I would say two terms for members of the House (4 years) and two terms for members of the Senate (8 years) and an 8-year maximum in Congress. So a person could do two terms in the House (4 years), but then only one term in the Senate (4 years) for a total of 8 years.

I would like members of Congress and their spouses to be required to divest themselves of all individual stocks, placing their holdings in a managed, diversified mutual fund. Trading on the stock market would be banned for members of Congress, their spouses and children.

Members of Congress would have to make all of their tax records public.

I would ban corporate contributions to campaigns. I would limit contributions by individuals to any one candidate to $100. Members of Congress, their spouses and children would be banned from accepting free travel, lodging, meals, or other services or gifts from individuals or companies.

I would house members of Congress in officer level housing on a nearby military base and provide them with a car and driver if needed.

Members of Congress would receive free medical care for themselves and their families, 30 days of paid vacation per year and sick leave. Time taken beyond that would go unpaid.

Staffers would be paid by the government at a level that would make it possible to live reasonably in the D.C. area.

Members of Congress and their staffers would receive free transportation to their home states and back to D.C. 4 times per year.

I would make congressional service similar to serving in the military, taking care of their needs, but with no special perks.

All of those are good but not such short terms. Here the conservatives increased donation limits so they could get more money without disclosing the source—plain corruption. John Bloody Howard started the rot here.

Another scam—claim for accommodation in Canberra as if renting a unit or flat, but share the accommodation with 2-4 other MPs.

And another scam to do with members’ printing allowances, unused moneys by conservative MPs is given to the Party organisation, Parakeelia.

Seems to be a wave of rightwing corruption.

I agree with all that except for the political donations. Those I would ban altogether. No donations in any way shape or form to individuals or parties.
